A new road and English becomes part of the curriculum in Honduras
So on Wednesday it was decided to bulldoze a track right along the back of people’s houses and right through the land at the back of the school.
Obviously, the community wasn't overly impressed with this, seeing parts of their land being destroyed and eaten up in one big yellow blur.
Faced with the decision to either destroy the top fence of the vegetable garden or take out a big mango tree, Caroline decided the tree was more important as the fence can be rebuilt.
This year the Government has decided that they want all Primary School children to be learning English so we are waiting for all the teaching materials and text books to be distributed.
Te get a head start, we have started doing one English class a week with each grade from 11:45 until 12:30 pm so that the children do not miss out on other lesson time, as their Maths and Spanish obviously take priority.
This week, new volunteer Connie Dao has started working with Gita in first grade and they will be teaching basic English vocabulary to them once or twice a week. Grades 2 to 6 will receive one class a week taught by Caroline.
