Facts and figures

On an annual basis we aim to provide:
First time education or educational reinforcement to almost 2000 children in primary school
Secondary education to over 200 children and adults
Employment to over 75 local people; more-so indirectly
100 energy saving wood-burning stoves and 15,000 trees planted
Around 100,000 teaching hours
Over 500,000 pieces of fruit
1,000’s of pens, pencils, pencil sharpeners, colouring pencils, work-books and erasers
Over 300,000 whole or subsidized meals
Daily education in 16 communities across Latin America
Direct benefits to over 500 families

CONGRATULATIONS to all the Challengers on our first six Charity Challenges of 2011, biking from Guatemala to Honduras, the inaugural Nicaragua Volcano Challenge, Brazil's Chapada Diamantina Challenge , Guatemala's first Caribbean Kayak Challenge, Perú´s Cerani Pass and Ecuador's Volcano Challenge. Nicaragua's second volcano Challenge is set for 3rd-6th November and the third Guatemala Volcano Challenge dates are set for 27th November -2nd December.

Maintenance in Honduras

Summer school is coming to an end in Honduras, which means the schools will once again be full but also that work needs to get done fast in order for everything to be ready for the official day one of the 2011 school year.

Volunteers at San Rafael and Barbasco schools have done fantastic maintenance work to give the schools a clean look and a fresh coat of paint. In addition, a new mural has been added to Barbasco along with newly painted desks.

In San Rafael, the contrast of light and dark blue became even bolder and the old mural got brightened up with more colour.
