Former GVI Intern Trainee chooses education

Virginia Sharp, former GVI volunteer and intern in Guatemala and Nicaragua, has chosen to carry on as an educator after her time with GVI. Virginia applied for and was accepted to Teach for America, an education program for recent university graduates in the United States aimed at lessening the achievement gap between poor and minority students in urban areas and their counterparts.

Acceptance to this two year program is highly competitive and Virginia’s acceptance denotes her passion to help underrepresented populations through education and her natural ability as a teacher. Virginia helped inspire many students during her time with GVI in Central America and she will tell you her experience in GVI Phoenix Projects has inspired her to take this next big step! Well done Virginia and good luck!
