Easter Party & Egg Hunt in Mata Escura - Brazil
The children, volunteers and members of staff at the school in Mata Escura, all had a brilliant time on their last day before Easter. Everyone got together for a morning-long party to celebrate the national holiday with loads of games, dancing and food.
The festivities began with a huge Easter egg hunt that the volunteers had set up by placing cardboard eggs around the school; chocolate ones were unfortunately avoided because they just wouldn’t have survived in the Brazilian heat. However, the children were not disappointed, not only did they receive prizes for the eggs they found but we also made sure the children got one big egg each to take home at the end of the day.
This was followed by a huge game of `duck, duck, goose´ that was appropriately named ´pato, pato, coelho´ (duck, duck, rabbit) and then, like at any good party, we had a good old dance. I think it´s safe to say that we all had an excellent day of which I´m sure the volunteers and children will have lasting memories.
