Trip to Peguche - Ecuador
On Friday, the children at Larcacunga school in Otavalo, Ecuador had a field trip to La Cascada de Peguche, a series of beautiful waterfalls close to the centre of town. It provided the ideal escape for the kids to be kids again as life can be tough for the children in these communities – they are often care-givers to siblings from a very young age, and typically work in the fields with their families after a hard day at school, so they have to grow up fast.
This day provided them with the perfect opportunity to let their hair down (literally in many cases!) and have some fun with their families and the volunteers. As well as getting soaked by the spray from the waterfall, they made full use of the pools to swim in, and to enjoy a traditional lunch prepared by the mothers. Lots of smiling faces at the end of a busy and fun day!
