Rio Dulce GVI Phoenix Kayak Challenge - July 2011

From 10th to 15th July and 17th to 22nd July, we will be swapping our bikes and walking boots for kayaks for a few days, kayaking from the Castillo San Felipe on Lago Isabal to the Caribbean, to raise money for the GVI Phoenix Projects in Guatemala.

The Challenge, led as always by the professionals at Old Town Outfitters, will start at Lago Izabal, where we will hike, cave and explore before putting the kayaks into the water and heading out, close to 50km down the Rio Dulce, camping on the sides of the river with time to relax and cool off in waterfalls.

Plenty of smaller Challenges await, including scaling the sides of the canyon (for those who want to!), bathing near boiling waterfalls and the final challenge of all, to reach Las Siete Altares on the Caribbean Coast, where the first Tarzan films were made back in the 1930's!

Once finished, and spending the last night in Livingstone, we head back to Antigua, passing through the incredible Mayan Ruins of Quirigua. We hope to see you on this 6 day Challenge, it will be great fun, though most important of all, raise funds and awareness for the GVI Phoenix projects in Guatemala. Cheers.
