Guardabarranco Flying High in Nicaragua

September arrived with continued strong attendance in the GVI Phoenix school, Escuela Guardabarranco, in La Thompson. With consistency, we have had 55-60 children attending each day for the morning and afternoon sessions, with many of the same coming regularly.

September brings the celebration of Nicaraguan Independence. Yessenia, our local teacher, has included lessons about Nicaraguan history, patriotism, culture and music in the daily curriculum of the school this month. The children have been singing songs celebrating their countries pride and independence and also did “la marcha” this week to commemorate “La Patria.”
Thank you to all of our great interns and volunteers who have continued to carry the momentum and energy in our school forward!
