Kids teaching kids in Santa María - Guatemala
This week in Santa Maria the volunteers were supported by a dedicated team of students from class 6. Their class is temporarily closed and they were not obliged to come in, though they arrived with red ballpoint pens in hand ready to grade the work of the younger kids, distribute glue and scissors, help with homework and give out fruit at break times.
They proved to be an invaluable asset on Thursday morning when they worked with the new students in class 1 during one of their first ever maths lessons. It has been fantastic to watch the 'assistants' in action - to see their enthusiasm for school and the patience and care they have shown towards the younger children.
