GVI Phoenix moves into Barbasco - Honduras
Since the start of March, we have started going up to the community of Barbasco twice a week to teach first grade. The community is a little further and smaller than San Rafael. Profesora Sandra has been working alone at the school for the past 4 years. This year she has 60 students in 6 grades.
Grades 1, 4 and 5 sit 3 to a bench in a cramped annex next to the only classroom in the school and find it necessary to work on the floor or outside to get a bit more room. They are nevertheless very eager to learn and always ask for MORE homework! "That’s not how I remember school!" says Phomolo.
We are very excited about this new development. There is so much we can do here that will make a real difference. The students, the teacher and the community have made us feel very welcome.
