School maintenance after heavy rains in Peru
The best-laid plans of mice and men often go astray. This we all know very well. So when the regional government postponed the start of the academic year in Arequipa to the 7th of March we had to modify ours. Our enterprising volunteers took this unexpected opportunity to repair the damage done to our schools by the recent heavy rains.
This has been the wettest rainy season Arequipa has seen in 6 years and some structures in our schools have taken a beating. Once that was done we turned our attention indoors.
We repaired and repainted all the furniture in need of TLC, having survived the attentions of energetic 5 – 11 year olds. Now we are really ready to welcome the children and teachers back for another round!
