Incentive Program Introduced in Nicaragua
To provide more positive feedback and a sense of ownership for a student’s individual attendance and behavior, GVI Phoenix Nicaragua has introduced an incentive program in both of our schools. Further, we hope this program will encourage students to attend classes on a more regular basis. Incentives will be rewarded at the end of each month and will consist of school materials the children can use in our schools and in the public schools.
For the month of February, students with an average attendance rate of 80% or higher who exhibited good behavior in classes, were given pencils and new notebooks or folders. Of course, all the children wanted these incentives but we explained they must earn them through their attendance and positive behavior. This is another small example of the aim of sustainability behind the GVI Phoenix Projects.
