Taking responsibility - stoves in Honduras
Since the beginning of February 8 volunteers have built 8 stoves for families of the students. A few weeks ago a stove was being built for the family of two boys, Pablo and Mario. On a friday morning we arrived to the school to find all the materials for 4 stoves.
These materials needed to be split up into four piles so the families receiving stoves could get their respective materials.
What better activity to kick off a Friday morning than to enlist the primary school children to help Marko and Eric split up 360 bricks and 80 cinder blocks!
The kids loved it! Particularly Mario and Pablo who took this on as a major responsibility, given that 25 percent of these blocks would be for their home.
It was great to see Pablo and Mario taking such responsibility for their stove and to see the entire community of children work together to get the job done. With a smile!
