Facts and figures

On an annual basis we aim to provide:
First time education or educational reinforcement to almost 2000 children in primary school
Secondary education to over 200 children and adults
Employment to over 75 local people; more-so indirectly
100 energy saving wood-burning stoves and 15,000 trees planted
Around 100,000 teaching hours
Over 500,000 pieces of fruit
1,000’s of pens, pencils, pencil sharpeners, colouring pencils, work-books and erasers
Over 300,000 whole or subsidized meals
Daily education in 16 communities across Latin America
Direct benefits to over 500 families

CONGRATULATIONS to all the Challengers on our first six Charity Challenges of 2011, biking from Guatemala to Honduras, the inaugural Nicaragua Volcano Challenge, Brazil's Chapada Diamantina Challenge , Guatemala's first Caribbean Kayak Challenge, Perú´s Cerani Pass and Ecuador's Volcano Challenge. Nicaragua's second volcano Challenge is set for 3rd-6th November and the third Guatemala Volcano Challenge dates are set for 27th November -2nd December.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from Phoenix Latin America

It has been a great year for GVI Phoenix here in Latin America, and this is thanks to all the volunteers we have had. Many advances have been made and 2009 beckons with new communities in Nicaragua, Ecuador and Perú and not forgetting, more children in Guatemala and in the Phoenix secondary school in Honduras.

From all the GVI Phoenix staff on the ground here in Latin America, have a great Christmas and a very Happy New Year, and we look forward to seeing you out here in 2009!
