Graduation in Nicaragua
We are proud to say that with GVI’s help we had some kids going up to first grade from the preschool as well as some grade one kids moving up to second grade. Junior, Kelven, Yulekis, and Carmelia are a few moving up from the preschool.
They showed up dressed in their best with their moms’ proud of what they have achieved this year. Ana, the preschool teacher with whom the GVI volunteers have been helping out, presented each graduate with their own diploma and congratulated them on their hard work.
Even though GVI is proud of the graduates at La Cruz we realize that there is still a lot of help needed within the school. Unfortunately some of the children’s attendance can be sporadic, nearly all of the children are forced to work in the nearby garbage dump, hence they do not get a full school year and fall behind.
For this reason GVI will be continuing classes in the community during the school break which will allow the kids who have fallen behind to catch up…as well as a place to play baseball on Fridays!
