New GVI Phoenix Documentary - indigenous women
Nathan has just finished our new documentary, focusing on the women and girls of the communities we work in in Guatemala. Whilst it was filmed in Guatemala, the message is the same across all GVI Phoenix projects; in Honduras, Nicaragua, Ecuador and Perú.
Most indigenous girls do not have the opportunity to start or even finish secondary school, and the majority of indigenous women are unable to read or write. The effects of this can often be devastating in terms of income generation, health, and human rights.
We wanted to show what people in the communities had to say about the project and how it impacts their lives. We focused on a mother, daughter, and community leader, and their message was overwhelmingly optimistic.
Once again, the theme in this documentary is the same in all our projects in Latin America.
If you have problems loading the main documentary, there is another version from You Tube on the right hand side of the blog.
