Intern Katrien arrives in Nicaragua and La Cruz gets a new coat of paint
La Cruz 2 was busy this week! Firstly Katrien Van Der Schueren, a former volunteer and intern in our Volunteer in Peru teaching project, arrived from Belgium on Monday to help Steve.
It is excellent when volunteers return to the projects as interns as they bring with them the knowledge of being a volunteer, which they can share with new volunteers, as well as being experienced in how our projects work.
Then on Tuesday we celebrated teachers’ day with music, food, and balloons. Steve and Katrien ended up dancing some salsa with Ana and Loyda (the local teachers), and of course the kids.
Lastly, the rest of the week Steve, Katrien, and some of the families from the community helped paint the school in blue and white.
Jayley, Yuri, and Julio (all siblings), and their Mom where especially a great help. Next week the kids have vacations so it was a great way to end the week.

The school looks great, it will really liven up the place and improve the learning environment for the kids. Well done guys!
