GVI Phoenix welcomes new local staff member in Nicaragua
This week GVI Phoenix welcomed a new member to their staff. Karla Patricia Marón is a community member in La Thompson, the Nicaraguan community where GVI has been working the past month and a half, and was the one who brought the community to GVI´s attention.
She has been a great help to us and the other the people in La Thompson, and we are all looking forward to working with her and other members of the community in the future.
Although GVI has only been in the La Thompson since mid January of this year we have already seen some great results. We are seeing new faces each week, are continuing with the construction of the school, have implemented a fruit program, and completed 7 stoves for the families.
Unfortunately some of the children in the community are unable to attend school because they are needed to look after younger siblings or work in the tobacco fields.
However slowly but steadily, GVI is seeing that families are realizing how important a basic education for their children is, and we hope to continue to see more faces appearing at the school as we continue our work in La Thompson.
