Vegetable Gardens in San Rafael and Barbasco - Honduras

Both of the schools at San Rafael and Barbasco have created their very own vegetable gardens! With help and supervision of the local teachers, the students in the older grades learned how to terrace the land and prepare it to plant various vegetables.

Radish, carrots, chili, cilantro, cucumber, onion, and tomatoes are some of the vegetables that are being grown in the schools. These will then be picked when ready and added to the daily hot meal given to the students. Not only is it great for the kids to learn about the process of making a vegetable garden but they will also receive the nutritional benefits that go along with it.
