Dance, goodbyes and something not for the fainted-hearted in Ecuador

We say goodbye to one of our long standing volunteers, Laura, who after 6 months has thoroughly got involved in the local culture, maximizing her experience, shown with her despedida/leaving speech in Kichwa, bringing a wave of wide eyed murmurs, tears and laughter from Senorita Fanny and the children.

Up at Larcacunga, the kids took time out from preparing for their end of month exams to help their families slaughter and dismember a cow on the school playground! The volunteers watched on in fascination as the kids delighted in impressing them with the cows head and hooves - tendons and blood a plenty!.

The Muenala team got the school involved in a choreographed dance, complete with masks, to a Michael Jackson Thriller rendition! Art classes proved popular at Huayrapungo - a host of brightly coloured pom-poms, music and dance - a mini festival up at the 'Gateway of the Winds'!
