Quantifying volunteer teaching in Honduras

In 2008, the Honduran government ran studies across local schools, to see how they were functionning, or not. This involved various tests the children had to take and the results were released this past week.

Of five schools in the Copán region, our school, and the children, in San Rafael was nominated the best performing school. This is quantifiable evidence that GVI Phoenix volunteers make a huge difference, bearing in mind, they teach most of the grades!

The other schools all have 4 or 5 permanent teachers; our school has 2, and they even aren't there all the time due to engagements with the educational system. The volunteers who are there all the time have such an impact on the children, and this has been proven.

Carolina, one of the local Honduran teachers says: "Yo sé que todo esto se ha logrado con la valiosa e importante ayuda que hemos tenido de GVI Phoenix a traves de los voluntarios, Buen trabajo!!!"

Fantastic effort by all our volunteers in Honduras, past and present. Now we have the GVI Phoenix Secondary school running in San Rafael, the future is at least looking bright for the children of the community. Thanks to everyone!
